How Do I Advertise My Website To Get More Traffic?

Tips to Advertise Your Website For More Traffic

If you have a website that promotes your business, your products, or your service, and you are new to promoting your business on the internet, you have likely asked yourself the question, “How do I advertise my website to get more traffic?” It is a common question that a lot of beginners have, usually after spending a lot of time, effort, and money getting their website together. You want to make sure that your ideal customers actually go to your website and start buying!

Advertising your website online can be broken down into 4 simple steps that I will outline in this article. Step 1 is knowing your target audience and defining your niche; step 2 is considering whether you would like to advertise your website using free or paid traffic; step 3 is understanding how free marketing works to advertise your website, and step 4 is understanding the mechanics behind paid ads and how to use them to effectively advertise your website online.

Advertise your website by knowing your customer better.

Let’s start with what a lot of people get wrong when trying to advertise their website to get more traffic online, and that is not understanding their customer well enough. You need to truly know who will benefit from the products or services that you have on offer. You will use this information to define a niche for yourself. Doing niche advertising will be essential to driving traffic to advertise your website. Niche marketing will enable you to target the right platforms with your marketing message, build a solid brand that people know, like, and buy from, and spend considerably less when advertising your website with ads but make more sales in return.

Now let’s move into advertising your website using free traffic methods.

You can actually drive visitors to your website for free! This is also known as content marketing or social media marketing. Although the main benefit of free traffic is the fact that you can drive visitors to your website without spending any money, this usually requires a lot of time, effort, and energy creating content. You can create content in the form of blog articles, YouTube video marketing, or content on social media platforms that you feel will bring benefit to your target audience. A great way to do content research is to search through forums like Quora and find out what common questions your target audience has and use those as content topics.

Then we have paid advertising methods.

Paid traffic is when you buy visitors to your website. You pay to have your website advertised on platforms such as Google Ads, Meta Ads (where you can advertise on Facebook & Instagram), and LinkedIn Ads, just to name a few. You can also do what is known as ‘influencer marketing’. This is when you pay a popular social media brand or personality to promote your product or service via their social media platforms. You can easily find influencers by going onto social media and typing in keywords that relate to your target niche; you should eventually stumble across profiles of influencers who have mass followings and speak about topics that relate to your product or service.

You wouldn’t want to work with an influencer who does not have a target audience that is related to what you are selling; this is likely to lead to poor results when it comes to sales back to your business.

The obvious downside to paid ads for beginners is the fact that you have to spend money to advertise your website. Paid ads can be particularly expensive, especially if you go for one of the big platforms like Google or LinkedIn. The big mistake that a lot of entrepreneurs make when it comes to paid ads is believing that instant traffic should mean instant sales. You will likely have to test multiple aspects of your advert before you create a ‘winning ad’, and this process can take time and cost money along the way.

I recommend where possible adopting a combination of both free and paid advertising methods to promote your website to get more traffic. It is also key to remember that traffic is not the be-all and end-all when it comes to promoting your website. You need to focus on converting those website visitors into leads and sales. The last thing you want to do is spend money and time advertising your website and none buys the products or services you are selling because your website is not optimized effectively.

Optimization tips to increase sales to your website.

Most entrepreneurs and business owners wonder, “How Do I advertise my Website To Get More Traffic?” But what few consider is how they will convert that traffic into leads and sales for their business once they start to attract new visitors. If you have a good conversion strategy, you won’t need as much website visitors as you might think in order for your marketing efforts to be profitable.

Email marketing is one way to help you boost sales when your website visitors discover you. Not everyone who visits your website for the first time is going to be in the ‘ready to buy mindset’. As a matter of fact, the vast majority of your website visitors will not be. With this in mind, we want a way to reach out to those customers when they might be ready to make a purchase, and the best way to do that is to have them join our email list. Email marketing means someone can join your website’s newsletter, and you can remind them regularly about the deals and offers that you have on your website.

Another way to get back in front of the website visitors who visit you is to do retargeting. You may have noticed when you go on certain websites and then shortly after you go onto social media and you see an advert for the website you were just on. This is not a coincidence. This is retargeting, and you can do this on your website too! Wherever you decide to run your ads, Google, YouTube, Meta Ads, or LinkedIn, all of these platforms will give you the ability to add what is known as a pixel to your website. This pixel is used to track who has visited your website and trigger an ad to show up when they visit the site you are doing promotions to. I speak about how to do retargeting ads in more depth in my YouTube video about Facebook marketing, and this video is similar to how you would run the same type of campaign for other social media platforms.

There are many options that are at your fingertips when it comes to advertising your website online. Whether you are doing free or paid traffic methods, I always recommend prioritizing building your newsletter email list as those who subscribe are likely to be your most loyal fans and customers.
